MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY
Medicine - M.B.B.S (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree course. This programme includes 4 ½ years of classroom study which is divided into three professionals of three semesters each. A wide range of subjects such as surgery, radiology, pathology, dermatology, biochemistry, psychiatry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology. Anatomy and preventive medicine are studied in the course of classroom study period. The final 1½ years are set aside for internship. During this period , the students are involved in clinical work in the departments of the hospital.

Specialization in specific areas :
Plastic surgery, nephrology, cardiology, pediatrics etc., is taken at the post-graduate level by medical graduates.

Dentistry [B.D.S]
The degree course in dentistry is of 4 years duration following by a year of residency. After obtaining the B.D.S degree, the student may pursue a two year post-graduate course with specialisation.
Entrance on all India basis.
All India Entrance Examination are conducted by the following institutions.

1. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
2. Aligarh Musilim University , Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh , UtterPradesh.
3. Armed Forces Medical college , Pune.
4. Banares Hindu University , Varanasi, UtterPradesh.
5. Christain Medical college, Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
6. Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post Graduation Medical Education Research, JIPMER, Pondicherry.
7. The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha.
8. The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. University of Roorkee , UtterPradesh.

Entrance Based on State Level Entrance Examination.
Each state conducts entrance examinations for admission to M.B.B.S,. B.D.S. and Paramedical courses to the various state medical, dental and paramedical universities, colleges and institutions. Every state also has a distinct reservation policy.
Para-Medical courses
Diploma and degree courses are available at the undergraduate level. They are of two and three-year duration respectively excluding an in-house training periods of six months. Premier institutions offering Diploma and Bachelors degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering include the Rehabilitation Council, Ministry of Welfare (New Delhi). The National Institute of the orthopaedicary, Handicapped (Calcutta), Institute of the Physically Handicapped (New Delhi) and the National Institute for Rehabilitation Training and Research (Cuttack, Orissa)
Nursing
Degree Course (4 years duration) in Nursing and General Nursing management are offered by a number of specialized nursing colleges. Certificate courses of (3½ years) in General Nursing, General Nursing Midwives and Male Nursing are available. Specialization is possible at the M.Sc level.
